1. General & Getting Started

Basic information about PicsOn and how it works.

Q: Do my guests need to download an app to use PicsOn?

Absolutely not. That is the core feature of PicsOn. Guests simply scan a QR code with their standard phone camera, enter their name, and start snapping. No app store downloads, no account creation, and no friction.

Q: Which devices are supported?

PicsOn works on any modern smartphone (iOS and Android) with a web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox). It also works on tablets and desktops for the Live Wall view.

Q: Is PicsOn made in the Maldives?

Yes! We are proudly developed in the Maldives, designed specifically for island events, weddings, and gatherings.

Q: What kind of events is this best for?

PicsOn is perfect for Weddings, Birthday Parties, Corporate Dinners, Concerts, Festivals, and even casual BBQs. Any event where you want to capture candids from your guests' perspective.

2. The Camera & Guest Experience

How the photo-taking experience works for your guests.

Q: Can guests see photos taken by other guests on their phones?

No. For privacy, guests can only see the "Personal Gallery" of photos they took during the event. However, all approved photos will appear on the public Live Wall (projector), and the Event Host has access to all photos.

Q: What is the photo quality?

It depends on the package the host has selected:

  • Giri & Veli: Standard HD (1080p).
  • Thundi, Kandu, & Atoll: High-Definition 2K (QHD) resolution.

Note: We optimize images for fast uploads over mobile data while keeping them crisp enough for printing.

Q: Can guests upload photos from their phone's gallery (Camera Roll)?

Yes! While the default mode is a live camera, guests have a button to upload pre-taken photos from their device gallery if they prefer.

Q: Does it work offline?

PicsOn requires an internet connection (Wi-Fi or Mobile Data) to upload photos to the Live Wall. However, if connection drops, our camera has a "Queue" system that will try to upload the photo once the connection is restored.

3. The Live Wall (Projector)

Displaying photos at your event in real-time.

Q: How do I display the photos at my event?

Every event gets a unique Live Link (e.g., picson.com/live?event=wedding). Simply open this link on a laptop connected to a projector or TV screen.

Q: Does the Live Wall update automatically?

Yes. The Live Wall polls for new photos every 10 seconds. You do not need to refresh the page.

Q: Can I run a slideshow?

Yes! The Live View has two modes:

  • Grid View: Shows all latest photos in a masonry grid.
  • Slideshow Mode: Automatically cycles through photos full-screen.

4. Packages & Storage

Understanding our pricing tiers and storage limits.

Q: What happens if I reach my storage limit mid-event?

If your event hits its GB limit, guests will see a "Storage Full" message. As the Host, you can instantly buy a "Mini Pack" (+2 GB) from your Admin Dashboard to keep the party going.

Q: What is the difference between the packages?

  • Giri (Free): For testing. 300MB limit. 15-day storage.
  • Veli ($9): Small gatherings. 1GB limit. 60-day storage.
  • Thundi ($29): Most Popular. 5GB limit. 2K Quality. 4-month storage.
  • Kandu ($70): Weddings. 25GB limit. 2K Quality. 6-month storage. Includes Slideshow.
  • Atoll ($150): Unlimited storage. 2K Quality. Strict 24-hour time limit.

Q: Can I upgrade my package later?

Currently, packages are fixed per event. We recommend choosing a package with enough buffer (like Thundi) for peace of mind. You can always add "Mini Packs" if needed.

5. Expiration & Data Retention

How long we keep your photos and what happens after.

Q: How long do you keep my photos?

Storage duration depends on your package tier:

  • Giri: Deleted after 15 days.
  • Veli: Deleted after 60 days.
  • Thundi: Deleted after 120 days (4 months).
  • Kandu: Deleted after 180 days (6 months).
  • Atoll: Unlimited storage during the event, but the event strictly closes after 24 hours.

Q: What happens after the expiration date?

The event and all photos are permanently deleted from our servers to protect user privacy and free up space. This action is irreversible.

Q: How do I save my photos before they are deleted?

As the Host, you can log in to your Dashboard and click "Download ZIP". This will give you a single file containing every photo taken at your event in full resolution.

6. Privacy & Moderation

Data security and content moderation tools.

Q: Can I delete inappropriate photos?

Yes. The Host has full access to an Admin Dashboard. You can view every photo uploaded and delete any unwanted images instantly. Deleted images vanish from the Live Wall immediately.

Q: Who owns the photos?

You (the Host) own the rights to the collective gallery. Guests retain the rights to their individual photos. PicsOn does not claim ownership of your memories.

Q: Is my data secure?

Yes. We use enterprise-grade storage (Cloudflare R2) and secure database authentication (Supabase). Event galleries are not indexed by Google and are only accessible via your unique Event Code or QR Code.
